1001 NIGHTS - LUMINATO FESTIVAL  -

Luminato is Toronto’s Festival of Arts and Creativity, born out of the cultural and creative energy of the city of Toronto. The festival embraces all fields of creativity and encourages cross disciplinary collaboration and creation among leading artists and inspired thinkers.

For the 2011 festival, Luminato asked us to help brand one of their signature productions, the retelling of the 1001 Nights arabian folk tale, the age-old collection of West and South Asian folk tales compiled in Arabic. The production focused on the story of Scheherazade, the wife of the a Jealous king, who vows to kill his wife in the morning. To save her own life, Scheherazade begins to tell her husband fanciful tales each night. Eager to hear the conclusion of each tale, the king postpones her execution. The two continue this cycle of stories for 1001 nights.
